I switched to "alternative" menstrual products about 3 months ago. And I love them! But it's not exactly the most "yell-this-off-of-a-mountaintop" topic, ya know?
~~~Hilary~~~
Thanks for the giveaway!
We're doing our part around here!
Steph
My next step is to make some cotton produce bags so that I stop depending so much on the store plastic bags.
And I'm stocking up on cloth bags so I can stop using so many plastic ones!
Brittany
P.S. Hilary, you're not the only one.
we have made lots of changes in going green but one that i will mention is that we put up a clothes line instead of using a dryer :)
The newest thing I have done to be green is buying most or all of my makeup from everydayminerals.com they are a great company and they aren't far from me so less waste with shipping.
I would love those bags!
Please enter me in your giveaway.
organic. I did'nt realize that most of these commercial beauty products that
women use everyday are full of toxins and bad chemicals that should'nt come
in contact with human skin let alone animals.
My husband and I do a lot of "green" things, but the easiest change we've made is to stop using plastic bags at the grocery store. Using the reusable bags would be even better! Oh yeah, and we changed all our light bulbs. And we take SUPER short showers. And we buy earth-friendly dog food. And... well, you get the idea. :)
Oh I wanna win the bags, wouldn't you?
'Cause I'm a mom to lots of dudes
And we go through lots of food
So I wanna win the bags, win the bags!
(Um, do you like my song? We are pretty green at our house...but I couldn't figure out how to put that into the song too. I could make up another song if you'd like...)
What a change in the water bill too! It's only a bit, but every bit helps not only us but the environment!
As a side note, my fifteen-month old decided she too would go green and removed her disposable diaper before peeing on the carpet this morning. Way to save that diaper for one more use kiddo! :)
As my area has been having a serious water shortage,we have been conserving water in numerous ways among other "green" changes.
I'm not super-green yet, but I've been switching to green cleaners, I've been making a point to use more washcloths and handtowels in lieu of paper towels. I also make our laundry soap which means that with all that laundry I have to wash, I'm not create tons of waste with empty plastic detergent bottles.
This is a great giveaway! and a great idea to give a second prize to the most creative comment. Limits the amount of those pesky 2 word comments you would get. :)
Oh and if you're interested I'm doing an earth day give-away/contest over at my blog check it :)
I don't nearly have enough, though, and these would certainly help. Thanks for the chance.
I adore those bags!!!!
2. we reuse all packing materials
3. packing paper we use for drawing and gift wrap
4. we are switching to green shower curtains when our current curtains can no longer be used.
i love these bags!
In my home, we are "greening our clean." I have switched all of my cleaning supplies to green, non toxic. It has been a long process, but I am happy with it!
-Nicole
It was extra work and a little extra expense, but it was worth it.
mcginnisfamily5(at)gmail(dot)com
I have been wanting to switch to re-usable bags for a while now, but my husband refuses to do it because he thinks the canvas sacks look dorky. Maybe these will entice him to be a little braver. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
For a while hubby and me lived with his ma on the cow farm. Hubby is a genius and was working on a bio-fuel. He was trying to convert the cow patties into usable methane.
He gathered the cow poop, preformed experiments on it and was at the stage where he had metal tanks full of the almost perfected fuel. One of tanks blow it's top. Up into the sky went a perfectly shaped round, thin, 3 foot long and growing longer as it traveled up into the air, dark, solid piece of .....
When it hit the ground it had turned on it's side.
The rest of the story:
Mother-in-law was convinced that one of her cow was sick. It looked like a cow had a terrible case of runs made while it was running in a straight line.
This happened over 27 years ago and he is still trying to find ways to save this Earth.
G ave up plastic water bottles
R ide my bike
E at organic when I can
E liminated paper plates
N o toxic cleaners
Thanks for the great giveaway!
Great giveaway, by the way.
In our house, we have a few things that we've started...
-NO MORE PAPER PLATES....this was a hard one because my children wash the dishes....they did not like me for a while after this new rule was invented....
-RECYCLED BAGS FOR THE STORE....my kids and husband will not use these....I love them.....they are in every car and I even have one that I can fold that is always in my purse....I have no excuses.....
-NO MORE PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES.....I just refill the few I have and I just use a glass when I'm at home....
-MORNING COFFEE....when I stop for my morning coffee, I have my own coffee mug (of course it's tall with a lid)....not only am I helping the earth, I'm charge for a refill and it 50% cheaper.....
What a great giveaway! Thanks so much for the opportunity to win such a great prize.
As for going green: we are using organic cleaners and am buying all my meat and produce organic.
Thanks again!
I've recently switched to biodegradable poop bags (Biobags) and would LOVE some new Envirosax to replace my tattered reusable cloth bags!
Thanks!
Many thanks.
We have switched to cloth diapers. I also bought "reusable bowl covers" to eliminate the use of plastic wrap. And, we buy "recycled" toilet paper. (ok, that sounds gross... it's actually recycled paper, made into toilet paper!) :)
Blessings,
Michele
I've been wanting to go to these types of bags for my groceries and a whole set would be wonderful. And the designs are so cute!
Thanks for the great giveaway! :)
(I have nothing witty to say, lol)
We switched to cloth bags a year ago, and donated the several hundred plastic bags I had shoved under my kitchen sink!
But we're using the very plain black cloth bags from our local store. They are great when my hubby is carrying the groceries, but not so chic when I'm doing the hauling!
Aside from that I do have two reuseable grocery bags but they are made from hessian, not exactly comfortable to carry!
Tia
Thanks.
Surprise Surprise the light went on ........
Oh I also purchased energy saving light bulds for my home.
I would love to receive these bags. We donot have a great selection of shopping green in our area yet.
Thanks!
princesslimey(at)gmail(dot)com
i LOVE the envirosax and would proudly carry them everywhere i go!
gerijones64(at)hotmail(dot)com
recycle EVERYTHING!!!!
I would love to win these bags, I actually don't have reusable shopping bags. I never buy trash bags from the store though - I re-use the grocery bags as trash bags. The paper bags are great for collecting and recycling all the other paper products.
I've been planning on switching to these kind of bags, but haven't put the money into them yet. Enter me please.
These bags look great! I've been wanting to make myself some bags to take to the grocery store!
Just in case that doesn't count, we're also trying to simplify. If we buy less, then we'll have less waste. When we give away what we already have, but don't really need, then we're recycling those things and they won't wind up in the landfills.
We use cloth diapers (not so fun this week with a sick kid) and I keep trying to remember to take my reusable bags into the store with me when I go shopping. 'cuz you know they do a LOT of good sitting in my car! ;)
page.sarah@gmail.com
Thanks for the great giveaway!
I am switching back to cloth diapers.
Thanks!
I'm in the process of trying to make my home and life greener. We already do things like cloth diaper, use CFL, local CSA shareholders, recycle, but the big one is that we added insulation to our house to make it more efficient.
I have looked for cute reusable bags but haven't been able to afford them and I have no seen any as cute as these! Please add me to the giveaway! Be blessed!
Less then two years ago I moved to Texas and got married. My new husband wasn't much into recycling, but I have since changed his ways and showed him how fun and easy it really is.
His small mobile computer business gives him ample opportunity to recycle a multitude of unwanted cable and gadgets, not to mention more soda cans then you can shake a stick at!
My first avenue of attach was to find a recycler who gave $2 bills in their change, which instantly got his attention, then I made it even easier by purchasing three colored trash bins from Ace hardware
Black: Cable/copper
Green: Aluminum/steel
Red: electronics
Paper, cardboard, and glass to into the city's green home recycle bins.
We now rid our home based business of clutter and once a month have enough set aside for a fun dates and other family activities!
Shannon
Is that witty enough for ya???
Lori
purchased at Kroger:
they carry my groceries
and if they ever wear out,
Kroger gives me more.
Thanks! :-)
Me... environmentally friendlier... reusable bags, travel mugs, Nalgene water bottles, recycling everything I can... but the biggest thing for me is taking a shower every other day... so far no complaints from others... not that I have heard.
This might take a change of pace in the hot winter!
We recycle tons of stuff and buy in bulk whenever possible.
One of my Freecycle groups is trying to organize a recycling center. We live in a rural area that doesn't support recycling.
Have to say, though, that some aspects of our lives are not recyclable. My hubby is on home dialysis, and his supplies are NOT recyclable. So we do our best in other areas.
Thanks!
It will be hard to keep track of all the giveaways we enter during the carnival, I hope you will notify the winner after making the announcement.
Thanx for hosting the great giveaway.
Feel free to pop by and say hello.
The biggest green change I've made lately is buying a new washer. Oh, I have to point out that my old one died first...it's not green to send good appliances to the landfill. :) Anyway, I got a high-efficiency toploader (Fisher and Paykel brand) and I've been very pleased with how much water it is saving. I think it's also saving us on electricity because it spins the clothes very dry so the dryer runs a much shorter time. Can't use the clothesline here this time of year...too much pollen falling off the trees. :(
Seriously, though, we switched to reusable grocery bags, and even though they are ugly, I feel good that we did it.
THANK YOU GOD BLESS
I also started doing other things such as using only cold water for laundry and natural detergents. I am even using cold water to wash my hair! Believe it or not, cold water makes hair much more shiney and not to mention wakes up the brain for the day! Also, being disabled has actually been helpful in MAKING me go green. One way is that I can no longer care for the very long, colored, highlited, curly, massive mane I had due to arm weakness. So, I shaved it off. It actually uses less product to wash and now, I am sticking to my natural "salt and pepper" color so that I do not use all the chemicals to color it. I actually have discovered it gets some great highlites just from being outside in the sun! Not only saving the enviroment but, time and MONEY!
Using the sugar scrubs and other all natural ingrediants on my body,and hair such as honey, citrus and lavendars, etc as well as the frigid water.... has really made a difference in not only going green, but, I have found it has made my outside look as sweet and beautiful as my inside!
Oh, and my favorite thing to do is pick a petal off one of my rose bushes and rubbing it on my lips for some natural, lushious lip action. All I use is a little bit of gloss to keep them moist. I have done that since I was a teenager when most folks referred to me as the "flower Child".
I've been recycling at home and work, and saving cans and then donating the money I get from recycling the cans.
These bags are fabulous!
Thank you for doing this giveaway.
We recycle EVERYTHING possible. Even toilet paper rolls. LOL seriously, I was sitting there one day and said to myself, "self, how many of these do we throw away each year". It was too much to comprehend so now we have a recycle can in the bathroom!
Hey, if you have a chance, please stop by and visit my contest page too!
Thanks and have a lovely day!
Thanks for having this.
Lovely bags!
Thanks for the great giveaway.
I use water that I've boiled veggies in (cooled down of course) to water my plants.
I also unplug everything that can be unplugged when I go to bed to save electricity
Done the lightbulbs, recycle everything and want to start a compost; just not sure how to as I'm in an apt.
And, by the way, I bite my tongue every time I see people walking out of the library with all their books and dvds in a plastic bag. Nooooo!
(Ok, if it's on someone's lawn I pick it up, but I have been trying to get my dog to go on grassy areas in alleys near my apartment and I hope these spots will soon be tiny rainforests)
Also, I have started composting all the food waste in my household. Hey, it's gardening season and I need free fertiliser, okay??
My friends thought I was cheap and sad.
Keeping items out of the landfill I said,
And in money I am ahead.
I got a reusable grocery sack,
I just need to remember to take it back,
When I use it the groceries don't spill,
the bag doesn't wind up in the landfill.
I've started recycling my aluminimum cans,
because of soda we are big fans.
Next on my list is a refillable bottle of water,
Don't want this earth getting any hotter!
Let's not forget we just got a Prius,
So for this contest please pick us!
Thanks for the nice giveaway. The bags are really nice looking.
Thanks for offering these bags - they look great!
for errands and exercise!
count me in! thanks for the awesome bloggy!
I just recently switched to re-usable shopping bags. I've had my eye on Envirosax & would be thrilled to win some. Right now I'm using Chico Bags & I have to say, they're fantastic. I only bought a handful to start out with, but I'm finding all sorts of uses for them!
Thank you for offering up such a fun and generous giveaway. I hope it sparks a lot of interest in Envirosax, too!
When I was in high school I wanted to be a "carni" but then I read a Dean Koontz book that scared the crazy carni out of me!! I still can't look at a fair the same!!
As a gardener (and almost Horticulturalist) I have many things that we do to help make a "green living." We compost our garbage, buy locally if we don't grow it ourselves, we have all Energy star appliances and lightbulbs, and we have a timer on our water heater. My next transfer is a hybrid vehicle and slowly investing in solar panels.
I love the design of the bags!! What a great prize!!
I'm having a give away as well!! Check it out!!
I've been using lots of dishrags in the kitchen for things I'd normally use paper towels for.
I made the switch to non disposable menstrual products.
I've asked to work at home a few days a week instead of commuting.
I also brought in my own tub for soda can recycling at the office!
Thanks for the great giveaway!
Those are just some of the changes we have made. Our whole family is just loving it, too!
What a wonderful giveaway you are doing.
Have fun this week with your giveaway. Don't forget to head on over to my blog and sign up for mine!
Would love to win these bags; they are such fun!!!
-Installed a programmable thermostat so that the temperature automatically drops at night and while we are away (in the winter). Vice versa in the summer. It's suppose to save energy.
-Installed water saving showerheads.
-We used salvaged wood when redoing the beam in our kitchen.
That's the tip of the ice berg anyway.
Thank you, Hot Mama!
Marilyn
